Well hello there!
Are you an artist of any kind? Some kind of crazed creative with an impossible-to-satisfy need to make things and—let’s be honest here—get a tone of attention for it? Well, stop everything you’re doing, we’ll take it from here.
Well…maybe not everything. Don’t get too excited. But we are here for you, and we’re the most qualified to be there ‘cause we are you. Which is why we’d like to congratulate you. After all, the life of an artist can often be a solitary one, and you just found the place that’s dedicated to making it not so. Or at least, to make it so that you can navigate that life a little better.
So, who are we?
We’re the internet’s youngest artist collective. We want to join emerging creatives of all mediums together under one umbrella.
Our goal is to render the experience living the artist’s life a little less solitary. It’s hard to feel supported when you walk a creative path, but we want to be there to support you and provide content and resources that are valuable.
Our publication seeks to shine a light on emerging and overlooked creatives. We want to create a community/network around our content that allows everyone to learn from one another, collaborate, and flourish.
What kind of content can you expect?
We’re currently focusing on putting out written publications, but we welcome contributions containing both audio and/or visual media as well.
The kind of pubs we will always value are those that have a focus on the following:
Educating
Motivating/Inspiring
Comforting
Anything in between those things.
So, content with those focuses can look like candid pubs showcasing creative processes, personal/insightful stories from your career, behind-the-scenes stories, etc!
Anything that has to do with creativity is fair game!
At the time that this post is being written, we’re solely focused on putting out weekly pubs and building our audience. Once we reach a subscriber base that’s large enough, we plan on potentially…
Hosting online and in-person (in Montreal to start) events like:
Workshops
Expositions
Networking opportunities
Providing creative resources like:
Directories listing publishing/freelance opportunities.
Making expert guides and how-tos for several creative mediums.
Opening sections of BYE devoted to specific practices (writing; music; filmmaking; painting; etc.)
Exclusive content.
Digital and print BYE issues.
Podcast(s).
And much, muchhhh more!!
We basically exist for your needs and satisfaction. So, we will definitely welcome ideas, feedback, and suggestions as time goes on.
How can you contribute?
That’s easy! Just e-mail byteyourexpression@gmail.com with “Pitch” as the subject heading.
You would be given complete creative freedom. We welcome informal, casual, silly, and experimental publications. Essentially, you are free to be yourself here! Our “editor in chief” is more of a curator who’s role it is to make sure that everything stays relevant to the general message of the pub. We want your experience contributing for us to be fun, inviting, and extremely rewarding.

What’s in it for you?
For starters, your bio, portfolio, and any additional links will forever be linked on our Contributor Profiles page. You’ll always be apart of our community and you’ll be given free access to future paid-subscriber perks and more. You would also be given the opportunity to connect with other contributors for networking/collaboration purposes.
In addition, your contribution, bio, and portfolio would be heavily referenced to and we would make sure to give you as much exposure as we possibly can.
As BYE grows and gains monetary status, we would become able to offer paid contributor roles and staff opportunities. For the time being however, we will do everything in our power to give you exposure and exclusive access to future resources and opportunities.

Members who can manage to refer fifteen subscribers will be given free tickets to our first in-person event (TBA).
While it hasn’t been officially announced nor fully finalized, we are planning to host our very first event here in Montreal, where BYE is founded. If you’re not from Montreal, you’ll instead be rewarded with free entry to our first online event whether it’ll be a workshop, zoom presentation, or what have you.
We plan on taking advantage of Substack’s newly announced writer meetup program to organize an event for Substack creators and local artists. We want the event to be an opportunity for creatives to network, present their work, and better acquaint themselves with BYE & the local art scene.
We don’t have to tell you how important networking and putting yourself out there is as an artist. So, refer some subscribers to us so that we can make this happen!

You’ll be added to a waiting list to be instantly given a free 3-month subscription to our future paid subscriber benefits.
Once we reach a large enough subscriber base, we will launch paid subscriber tiers that will grant viewers access to exclusive content and VIP access to future events.
